Goals from Claudio Aquino, Rubén Ramírez and Luis Jerez Silva gave Godoy Cruz the perfect start in Mendoza. Later, in the Estadio Gigante de Arroyito, Rosario Central came from a goal behind against Quilmes to also register an opening day home win. Arnaldo González superbly struck freekick gave Quilmes the lead but second half goals from Sebastián Abreu, Rafael Delgado and an injury-time, Walter Acuña goal on the break reversed the scoreline.
