Barcelona have made an outrageous bid to buy Real Madrid midfielder, Ángel Di María according to reports in Spain. With Barca banned from doing transfer dealings after this current window closes a €60 million bid has reportedly been rejected by Real president, Florentino Perez as their fierce rivals look to bolster their squad in preparation.

Spanish sports daily, Sport has reported this bid although it has also claimed that Perez rejected this immediately as he is refusing to do business with Barcelona.

However, if Di María is determined to leave and Barcelona make the best offer it would leave Real in a very difficult position.

Manchester United are the other most likely suitors at this point but they are yet to make a concrete offer. Real Madrid would prefer to do business with anyone other than there main La Liga rivals so it could be an interesting remainder of the window.

Barcelona captain, Xavi was asked about the possibility of Di María making one of the most controversial switches in football:  “He is a great player, but fact is that he is a Real Madrid player at the moment.

“The past has shown that it is always difficult for a Madrid player to move to Barcelona and the other way around.”

The 26-year-old’s performances last season in Madrid have understandably made him one of the most sought after footballers in the world.

Paris St Germain are still keeping tabs on the situation despite publically withdrawing from the race for Di María’s signature and Manchester United have a long-term interest. However the €60 million fee might prove too much as an offer has yet to be confirmed.

If selling Di María is likely to be an unpopular decision with the Real Madrid players and fans then it is unimaginable that Perez would do any business with Barcelona.

For this reason, this story surely has to be filed under one of the most implausible transfer stories of the window.
