Boca Juniors‘ utterly awful start to the Torneo Transición continued last night as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat to Atlético Rafaela, a historic first win in La Bombonera for La Crema has significantly ramped up the pressure on manager Carlos Bianchi. To make matters worse, River Plate later thrashed Godoy Cruz in Mendoza. The current champions raced into a three-goal lead inside 20 minutes and were then able to ease to a 4-0 win. Earlier in Bajo Flores, San Lorenzo’s Copa Libertadores hangover continued and Banfield took full advantage to claim a first league win of the season, Juan Cazeres’ late golazo was undoubtedly the highlight. Lanús deservedly defeated Estudiantes 2-1 thanks to a Víctor Ayala brace and in Florencio Varela, Defensa y Justicia played out a scrappy 1-1 draw against Quilmes.
