Real Madrid eye January move for Pastore

Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti is keen to be reunited with Paris St Germain midfielder, Javier Pastore in January according to reports. The 25-year-old enganche has fallen back in the pecking order in Paris but would still cost Real in the region of €25 million.

Ancelotti signed Pastore from Palermo when he was manager of Paris St Germain for close to €40 million and playing under the Italian, Pastore enjoyed his best period for the club. During the 2011-12 season, under Ancelotti, Pastore scored 16 goals and provided eight assists and appeared to be living up to his hefty transfer fee.

However, since then there has been a significant drop in form and the Parisian club maybe willing to sell the classy Argentine schemer. Certainly their difficulties with UEFA Financial Fair Play in the summer hindered their transfer efforts and off-loading Pastore for a sizeable fee would help balance the books.

Knowing the player so well, Ancelotti would like to them him to the Santiago Bernabéu although of competition for places in Paris was fierce then in Madrid, Pastore could not expect things to be easier.

If the 25-year-old is available in January then Real would likely be joined by a host of other sides, with Manchester United and Chelsea also attributed with an interest.

Pastore has been recalled to the Argentina squad for the forthcoming friendlies by new manager, Gerardo Martino and while his talent is unquestioned at this point of his career he needs to be playing regularly.
