We are unlikely to know what went on at Argentinos Juniors under Claudio Borghi but the run of results was woeful. Yesterday afternoon in Corrientes, new manager, Néstor Gorosito took charge for the first time and the upturn in performance and result was remarkable. Losing to Boca Unidos would have been a disaster, leaving Los Bichos 10 points adrift of the fifth and final promotion spot. After a run of 2 wins in 9, never scoring more than a single goal in a match, the omens did not look good. However, Juan Román Riquelme and his boys showed no signs of such form and swept aside their hosts. Goals from Juan Ramírez, Riquelme, Lautaro Rinaldi and Gonzalo Castillejos gave Gorosito’s side a comfortable 4-0 win and closed the gap to fifth to just 4 points. Argentinos had scored just 6 goals in their 13 matches prior and the hope will be that this is very much the corner turned.
