Sergio Agüero scored the only goal of the game in the Manchester derby as City were once again able to claim the bragging rights from rivals, Manchester United with a 1-0 win at the Etihad. Louis van Gaal’s side were underdogs coming into the match and were dealt a further blow in the first half as Chris Smalling was sent off. The already make-shift defence was further weakened when Argentina international, Marcos Rojo was forced off with what appeared to be a serious shoulder injury and it was left to Sergio Agüero to smash in the only goal of the game. Agüero was noticeably aggrieved at being substituted late on as Manuel Pellegrini looked to hold on and United were nearly able to capitalise and force an equaliser.
