On Wednesday evening in the San Siro, San Lorenzo will face AC Milan in the Copa Berlusconi as part of the Copa Libertadores champions’ preparation for the World Club Championship in December. Facing European competition is supposedly going to help El Ciclón to face Real Madrid but according to reports it will also give Milan a chance to scout San Lorenzo youngster, Héctor Villalba at close quarters.
While AC Milan maybe struggling in Serie A this season, their scouting department certainly seems to be keeping busy judging by the volume of news stories linking them to players.
The latest is 20-year-old San Lorenzo striker, Héctor Villalba who will line up against Filipo Inzaghi’s side on Wednesday.
Villalba is a stocky, powerful striker, blessed with lightening pace and is capable of the truly spectacular. It was one of these moments which catapulted Villalba into the limelight, when in the Torneo Final 2013 during the clásico against Racing Club, the 18-year-old Villalba burst from his own half through the heart of the Racing side and thumped the ball into the net for one of the goals of the season.
Since then, Villalba has perhaps been over-shadowed slightly by another of San Lorenzo’s youngsters, Ángel Correa, who completed a move to Atlético Madrid. Villalba perhaps does not have the vision or creativity of Correa but as a pacy-direct striker, he has a great deal of potential which could attract European clubs.
San Lorenzo’s starting eleven for the match against AC Milan is: Franco; Prósperi, Fontanini, Yepes, Más; Villalba, Ortigoza, Kalinski, Barrientos; Cauteruccio, Blandi
