There can’t be too many top flight leagues in world football that will boast a bus company football team among its ranks, but in 2015, Argentina’s 30-team Primera will be home to one – Crucero del Norte. The side from Garupá in Misiones celebrated promotion to the top flight for the first time in their history with a convincing win over Patronato.
Perhaps given that the club was only formed by the bus company in 1989, this being their first taste of promotion to the Primera is not a surprise but even with the expanded division it is still remarkable to have Crucero del Norte mixing with Argentina’s biggest clubs.
Goals from Gabriel Tomasini and a brace from Gabriel Ávalos gave Crucero the all important victory and ensured that they would be in the five promotion places from Zona B.
