The widespread interest across Europe in Argentine youngster, Paulo Dybala is no surprise but Palermo’s outspoken president, Maurizio Zamparini has claimed that Arsenal and Juventus have already tabled bids for the 21-year-old ahead of what looks like a busy summer for Dybala and several clubs.
Speaking to Radio Marte Sport Zamparini said: “Juventus and Arsenal have already made offers for the boy. [Pierpaolo] Triulzi, his agent, will be in Italy on Friday.”
Having previously said, among other things, that Dybala would not be allowed to leave Palermo for less than €40 million the 73-year-old president added: “It hasn’t changed. Someone like Dybala cannot be worth less than €40 million. He would prefer to stay in Italy — he still wants to play in Serie A.
“Of the English clubs that have shown interest, though, Arsenal is his first choice because of the way [Arsene] Wenger makes his team play.”
The Córdoba-born, 21-year-old missed out on Gerardo Martino’s most recent Argentina squad and is yet to make his debut for La Albiceleste but with twelve goals and seven assists from his twenty-eight Serie A appearances this season, Dybala is set to be one of the most sought after players when the European market reopens.
Compared to his compatriot, Sergio Agüero, Dybala shares many of the Manchester City stars characteristics. Pacy and direct, Dybala is a good finisher, who is part penalty box finisher and part second striker. His trickery and movement mean that he could play alongside a more traditional number nine or across the attack in a 4-3-3. Still of quite slight frame there might be some who would question whether he would be ready for the physicality of the Premier League but Zamparini certainly doesn’t share that view.
The Palermo president, Maurizio Zamparini certainly sees no end to Dybala’s potential: “He isgoing to be better than Cristiano Ronaldo, [Lionel] Messi and [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic. He’s the best striker in Serie A.”
