A third straight draw for Rosario Central puts Eduardo Coudet’s side at least momentarily level with San Lorenzo at the top but the rosarinos will know that it is six points dropped in the last weeks. In Florencio Varela against Defensa y Justicia it may well have been frustrating for Central but for the neutral it was one of the matches of 2015 so far.
The action started after just three minutes when Franco Cervi won a penalty only for the usually deadly Marco Ruben to blaze the spotkick over the bar. However, he quickly made amends with a diving header to give the visitors the lead only to see Ciro Rius’s glancing header draw Defensa almost immediately level. The impressive Franco Cervi then rifled in a second from distance only for the hosts to reel them back in.
Juan Ignacio Sotelo headed El Halcón level but it was far from over. Alejandro Donatti’s wonderful free-kick put Central in front for the third time only for Eugenio Isnaldo to deny Coudet’s side three points.
Earlier in Santa Fe, Atlético Rafaela’s latest failure led to Roberto Sensini becoming the latest managerial casualty. Franco Jominy’s excellent volley gave La Crema the lead but Eduardo Ledesma levelled soon after and neither side could muster a winner. Rafaela’s wait for a victory this season continues and they will be hoping that whoever is Sensini’s replacement brings them more luck.
Aldosivi moved away from the pack at the bottom of the table with a 2-0 win over Godoy Cruz aided by some dubious refereeing. Pablo Lugüercio had already headed the home side in front when Emanuel García was sent off for La Tomba for an apparent elbow but what was in reality an outstretched arm. Roger Martínez doubled the lead after the break before Godoy Cruz had Leonel Galeano sent off for the same offence as Garcíá.
