Barcelona’s victory over Valencia on Saturday afternoon might not only be significant in the Liga title race as Luis Enrique’s side successfully avoided a potential banana skin but it also proved memorable for Lionel Messi. Records tumble on a regular basis for the 27-year-old but when he tapped in Barca’s second in stoppage time it was his 400th for the club. This was not one of Messi’s finest after he fluffed his initial attempt and saw it saved by Diego Alves only to be able to tap in the rebound and ensure the 2-0 win.

Messi became Barcelona’s leading scorer last year but he shows no signs of slowing down and after being presented with a ‘Messi 400’ shirt after the match simply said: “I hope to score many more.” At 27, score many more he surely will but just how many?

Breaking down Messi’s 400 looks something like this: 278 La Liga goals, 75 in the Champions League, 32 in the Copa Del Rey, 10 in the Spanish Super Cup, four in the Club World Cup and one in the UEFA Super Cup.

If you have a spare 30 minutes feel free to watch all 400 here….
