Estudiantes came within ten minutes of being dumped out of the Copa Argentina by Nacional B side, Club y Biblioteca Ramón Santamarina but the in-demand Guido Carrillo struck twice in the closing stages to give Gabriel Milito’s side safe passage to the next round. Martín Michel fired Santamarina into a lead with a low, drilled effort from the edge of the penalty area a minute before half time and it had looked as though it would be enough to pull off the cup upset. However, in the 82nd minute, Carrillo headed Estudiantes level at the near post and with the tie heading for penalties the 24-year-old rose to nod in a second in injury time. The victory sets up a last 32 tie against San Martín but also serves as a reminder of just how much La Pincha will miss Carrillo should he complete a move to Europe in the coming months.
