River have more important matters just around the corner, namely a Copa Libertadores semi-final but last night in Victoria, Marcelo Gallardo’s side had the chance to join San Lorenzo at the top of the table thanks to their rescheduled match against Tigre. Despite being the better side, Gustavo Alfaro’s well-drilled outfit managed to keep River out and although the visitors were able to bring on new signings Javier Saviola and Lucho González they were still unable to break the deadlock. The result, now that every side has played the same number of matches, leaves River on 30 points level with Racing, a point behind Boca and two off leaders San Lorenzo.
