AtléticoTucumán thrashed Los Andes on Sunday evening to capure the Nacional B title but more importantly sealed a place back in the top flight since their relegation at the end of the 2009/10 season. With Patronato drawing earlier, El Decano knew a victory would secure the championship and a three-goal blitz before half-time had already sewn it up. Luis Rodríguez scored from the penalty spot after just a couple of minutes and a brace from centre-forward Emanuel Molina eased the nerves and created something of a party atmosphere for the second half. Los Andes made life even easier minutes after the restart with Federico Markunas’ horrendous own-goal and when Cristián Menéndez headed a fifth ten minutes from time, the celebrations were already in full flow. With eleven wins from the last thirteen fixtures, AtléticoTucumán are worthy champions but it remains to be seen who will join them. A playoff for the second promotion spot between the sides that finish from second to fifth will follow and at present only Patronato and Ferro are mathematically certain to be involved.
