Boca Juniors returned to action on Friday afternoon after their friendly defeat to Puebla in México and thanks to a fierce Marcelo Meli strike, Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s Primera champions recorded a 3-2 win against a Liga Chaqueña select XI.
Andrés Chávez gave Boca the lead from the penalty spot but a well worked free-kick saw Daniel Osvaldo Liva lob Guillermo Sara and equalise for the home side.
Chávez poked in a scrappy second and shortly after Marcelo Meli smashed in from 25 yards to extend the lead. Hugo Brizuela pulled a goal back for the inferior opponents but Boca held on to finish the year with a victory.
