Argentina under-15s fell to their first defeat of the South American championships and sadly it resulted in Los Pibes crashing out at the semi-final stage. Walter Coyette’s side had cruised to victory in every group match but came up against a dangerous Uruguay side, who had finished second in Group B, and despite taking the lead through Agustín Almendra in the first half they were undone by a spirited Celeste fightback. Gonzalo Napoli slotted the ball past Manuel Roffo to equalise in the 68th minute and with four minutes of normal time remaining the talented Santiago Rodríguez rounded Roffo to roll in the winner. A disappointing end to the tournament for Argentina after looking like genuine title contenders earlier. Uruguay will face Brazil in the final, having already lost 6-0 to the Selecao in their group match.
