Valuable away wins last weekend proved crucial for both Banfield and Belgrano after Aldosivi and Colón provided scares in the return legs of their pre-Copa Sudamericana finals.
Banfield claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory in Mar del Plata in the first leg and Aldosivi were an equally tough task back in the Estadio Florencio Sola. With a little over 15 minutes remaining, Pablo Lugüercio headed the visitors in front but Lucas Viatri ensured that it was in vain. The well-travelled striker came off the bench to head in Walter Erviti’s late corner and with it El Taladro booked their place in the 2016 Copa Sudamericana.
Over in Córboda, Belgrano followed a similar path into the Copa Sudamericana after Colón pushed Los Celestes all the way in their final. Pablo Ledesma’s close range finish during the first half cancelled out Belgrano’s one-nil victory in the first leg and appeared to be pushing the tie to penalties. However, with less than 10 minutes remaining, Mauro Óbolo thumped a near-post header past Jorge Broun and the 1-1 draw sealed a 2-1 aggregate victory.
