San Lorenzo’s revival under Pablo Guede continued on Friday night with a hard fought 1-0 win over Godoy Cruz in Mendoza. Only Independiente had taken as much as a point from El Tomba on their own turf and so expectations for Los Cuervos’ porous back line were not high. However, an excellent defensive display enabled Martín Cauteruccio’s close range finish early in the second half to take all three points for the visitors. The victory lifts San Lorenzo back up into third and while Godoy Cruz remain top of zone one, Rosario Central can leapfrog them this weekend. Leading scorer Santiago García was sent off late on and so El Tomba will need to bounce back without his goals next week.

In Santa Fe, a last gasp penalty converted by goalkeeper Sebastián Bértoli earned Patronato a point against Colón. The home side had twice lead after headers by Osvaldo Barsottini and Diego Lagos but were unable to hold on for all three points when Barsottini’s rash challenge on Fernando Telechea was correctly penalised. For the second week running, Bértoli made no mistake from the spot.

Godoy Cruz  0 – 1  San Lorenzo

Colón  2 – 2  Patronato
