After the fiasco of Morocco not turning up for the first game and Argentina therefore being awarded a 3-0 win, Los Pibes made their competitive debut in the 2016 L’Alcúdia International Football Tournament and thanks to goals from Tomás Conechny and Lautaro Martínez defeated Qatar 2-0.
San Lorenzo forward and under-20 captain Conechny headed in a fine opener before Racing striker Lautaro Martínez rose to nod in a second.
The result leaves Argentina top of Group B ahead of Thursday’s match with México.
