Primera champions Lanús claimed the first spot in the Copa Argentina last 16 with a victory over Patronato, that was more comfortable than the two goals in the final ten minutes suggested.

Jorge Almirón’s side were on top for almost the entirety of the match at the Estadio Julio Humberto Grondona but had to wait until the 82nd minute for Nicolás Aguirre’s scuffed effort to bobble past Sebastián Bértoli and break the deadlock.

Jose Sand added a second in stoppage time after Miguel Almirón picked the pocket of a ponderous Patronato defender and ensured El Granate’s progress in the tournament.

Boca Juniors or Santamarina lie in wait in the next round.

Lanús  2 – 0  Patronato
