There was little between Belgrano and Huracán in San Juan but El Pirata sealed a place in the Copa Argentina last 16 after a tense penalty shootout victory. Lucas Aveldaño fired Esteban González’s side in front inside 20 minutes when he followed in Gastón Alvarez Suárez’s free kick but the lead didn’t last long. Mauro Bogado pulled Huracán level from the spot after a handball and so it remained forcing the tie to penalties. Hugo Nervo missed El Globo’s first and with Belgrano flawless they celebrated a place in the next round.
Earlier, Unión avoided a cup upset despite falling behind to Unión Aconquija in first half stoppage time. Diego Martínez tapped the lower league side in front after some wonderful skill from Paraguayan Pablo Villalba Fretes but two goals in the space of a few minutes turned the table. Emanuel Brítez and Lucas Gamba put the Primera side in command before Nelson Fernando Acevedo wrapped up victory with a free-kick in injury time.
Belgrano 1 – 1 Huracán (5-3 on penalties)
Unión 3 – 1 Unión Aconquija
