It took Lucas Alario just weeks at the Estadio Monumental to be linked with a move to Europe following his decisive Copa Libertadores final goal for River Plate and in the year since, those rumours have continued to grow with Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti admitting the Italian club are interested.
Alario signed for River in July 2015, one month before their historic Libertadores triumph but has since scored 18 goals in 39 appearance for Los Millonarios.
When asked about the young striker, Argentina and Inter Milan icon Zanetti said, “The level of our championship has fallen considerably, if I had to pick out a player who would do well in Serie A I would say Lucas Alario.
“He’s [Alario] a player who has already demonstrated his ability to score decisive goals in important games.”
The 23-year-old has a release clause of around $15 million and Zanetti’s comments follow the news that Alario’s agent Pedro Aldave travelled to Europe this week after stating, “There are various clubs interested in Lucas and Inter is one of them.”
Despite signing Marcelo Larrondo, River would be loathe to lose Alario so close to the start of the season but his performances have attracted admirers.
