Someone has obviously told Atlético Rafaela they are in a relegation scrap as Juan Manuel Llop’s side already look transformed from the one that failed so badly during the Transición. There is a long way to go yet but La Crema recorded a second victory of the season and impressively beat a Gimnasia side that doesn’t lose often in La Plata.
El Lobo had won both games so far this season and were aiming to join rivals Estudiantes at the top but the visitors had other ideas and after keeping things tight for almost an hour snatched the lead. It took a little bit of good fortune and a defensive slip but Marco Borgnino poked in the only goal of the game.
Gustavo Alfaro’s side failed to really react and with minutes remaining saw Daniel Imperiale sent off for a second yellow card.
Earlier in Victoria, Tigre and Huracán were both searching for their first win of the season and the home side came within seconds of achieving it before Hugo Nervo volleyed in an injury time equaliser.
Tigre probably did enough to take all three points and it looked as though Carlos Luna’s first half header would earn victory but Eduardo Domínguez’s side have shown their resiliance before and with the last kick of the game denied El Matador.
Tigre 1 – 1 Huracán
Gimnasia 0 – 1 Atlético de Rafaela
