Gimnasia completed a perfect week with victory over Huracán in La Plata thanks to Lucas Licht’s second half penalty. El Lobo progressed past Racing in the Copa Argentina in midweek and inflicted a second defeat in three games for Caruso Lombardi as Huracán manager. The breakthrough came shortly after the hour mark when Hugo Nervo clumsily went into the back of Nicolás Ibáñez and prompted Andrés Merlos to point to the spot. Lucas Licht kept his composure to wrong foot Marcos Díaz and send Gimnasia eighth.

Omar De Felippe tasted defeat for the first time as Vélez coach after his side slumped to a 1-0 defeat away to Banfield. El Fortín were improved last weekend in their victory over Colón but looked short of ideas in the Estadio Florencio Solá and with ten minutes remaining saw Santiago Silva stab in the winner from close range.

In Victoria, Tigre notched back-to-back wins after coming from behind to beat Unión. Emanuel Britez’s powerful diving header had given the visitors an early lead but a late rally saw El Matador overturn the deficit. Erik Godoy volleyed a 77th minute equaliser before Carlos Luna scored twice from the penalty spot to complete a 3-1 victory.

Gimnasia  1 – 0  Huracán

Banfield  1 – 0  Vélez Sarsfield

Tigre  3 – 1  Unión
