While many questioned Juventus’ decision to splurge €90 million on Gonzalo Higuaín last summer, it was exactly for moments like Sunday’s match against Cagliari that the Bianconeri broke the bank.
Higuaín scored twice either side of half time with two incisive finishes to provide the difference and give Juventus an important three points.
Despite Roma continuing to push, there appears to be no stopping Juventus as they march towards a sixth consecutive Serie A title and Higuaín is now proving pivotal.
The 29-year-old made it eleven goals in his last nine league matches and told Sky Italia. “I am in good shape and so is the rest of the team.”
Argentina international teammate Paulo Dybala slipped Higuaín in for the second and given the pair’s form, Edgardo Bauza will likely try and reproduce the connection when La Albiceleste face Chile and Bolivia in March.
