Lucas Alario’s future almost certainly lies away from the Monumental but with no offer from Europe yet to meet River Plate’s demands, the centre forward’s agent has now claimed that an €18 million offer from China has landed on the table.
Having previously been linked to Inter Milan, Tottenham and Liverpool, Alario has seen his stock rise after Edgardo Bauza handed him his Argenetina debut.
River have safeguarded their asset with a hefty release clause but if the latest reports are correct the Chinese Super League could tempt Los Millonarios.
“We have a proposal from China for Lucas that meets the value of the clause,” Alario’s agent, Pedro Aldave, told Continental radio.
If indeed the clause is met, much will depend on whether the 24-year-old wants to continue his career in China.
“Lucas doesn’t dream of going to China, but we have to study everything,” Aldave explained.
River wouldn’t want to lose Alario with the season set to resume and a Copa Libertadores campaign to balance but with the Chinese transfer window open until February 28th there is a chance.
