Argentinos Abroad: Leandro Paredes nets stunning half volley as Roma keep pressure on Juventus (VIDEO)

6-1

Argentina manager Edgardo Bauza has just returned from his scouting trip in Europe but hopefully he was still watching on Sunday as Leandro Paredes scored a blistering half-volley in Roma’s 4-1 win over Torino.

Luciano Spalletti’s title hopefuls were already two up after first half goals by Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah when Paredes blasted the ball into the bottom corner from 25 yards following a headed clearance.

Roma ran out 4-1 winners and ensure that the gap to league leaders Juventus remains at seven points.

Paredes has emerged as one of Europe’s top young midfielders over the past year and could be in line for a first senior Argentina call.

The former Boca Juniors playmaker has benefitted greatly from a previous loan spell with Empoli and now operating in a deeper role is able to showcase his wonderful array of passing.

Argentina’s midfield, so often lacking a player that can link defence and attack, is crying out for a player like Paredes and hopefully with an eye on the future, Bauza will soon reward the 22-year-old.
