It has taken a little time but Joaquín Correa appears to be finding his feet in Sevilla and on Wednesday evening scored what could be a vital goal as Jorge Sampaoli’s side earned a 2-1 win over Leicester City in their Champions League last 16 first leg.
Having seen his earlier penalty saved by Kasper Schmeichel, Correa showed terrific composure to hammer the ball into the net after Stevan Jovetic’s wonderful layoff and double Sevilla’s lead.
Tucu’s missed spotkick and a host of other wasted chances by the hosts allowed Leicester to snatch a barely deserved away goal and remain in the tie but on a personal level, Correa is beginning to show signs of his promise.
The 22-year-old scored a crucial late winner away to Las Palmas in La Liga two weeks ago and could play an important role over the coming months.
