Primera leaders Boca Juniors wrapped up their friendly schedule before next weekend’s restart with a 2-1 win over Colón in Santa Fe on Saturday evening.
Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s attacking trident of Cristian Pavón, Darío Benedetto and Ricardo Centurión had all wasted chances when Colón took the lead midway through the first half.
Ismael Blanco had been bundled to the ground but saw his penalty saved by Boca debutant Agustín Rossi only for Nicolás Leguizamón to slide in the rebound.
Boca replied on the stroke of half time when Fernando Tobio headed home unmarked from six yards out and with less than fifteen minutes remaining second half substitute Walter Bou snatched a winner.
Centurión thread the ball into the centre-forward’s feet and his first touch created the space needed to rifle the ball into the bottom corner.
Boca resume their Primera title challenge next Sunday away to Banfield while Colón aim to build on a positive first half of the season against Olimpo.
