Two days after Argentina’s disappointing 1-0 defeat to Venezuela, Miguel Micó’s side were dealt a further blow as Paraguay triumphed by the same scoreline in the under-17 Sudamericano.

Another flat performance was punished by the Guaraní youngsters and leaves Argentina needing two wins from their remaining matches against Peru and Brazil.

Fernando Romero poked the only goal of the game past Manuel Roffo midway through the first half and aside from a Facundo Colidio free kick that whistled narrowly over the bar, Los Pibes never really looked like getting back into the game.

Argentina’s must-win clash with Peru is on Tuesday night in Talca and Miguel Micó knows that he must find a way to get more from this group if their World Cup qualification hopes do not crumble at the first hurdle.

Argentina  0 – 1  Paraguay
