Alejandro Gómez has been in superb form all season and is a key reason behind Atalanta’s success in Serie A but on Sunday afternoon, Papu marked his best ever season return with two goals in the win over Pescara, taking his tally to eleven.
The 29-year-old reached double-figures in the league after 13 minutes when a low ball into the penalty box, reached the Atalanta captain and he drilled the ball into the bottom corner.

Gómez laid on the second after half time for a sixth assist of the campaign and in stoppage time, added the third himself after being teed up by Frank Kessie.
The result sees Atalanta climb level on points with Inter Milan in fifth and only two points behind fourth-placed Lazio.
Should Papu finish the season in such form and inspire Atalanta to european qualification, should the 29-year-old be in consideration for Argentina?
