It hasn’t been a good start to 2017 for San Lorenzo and after their troubles in the Copa Libertadores, Diego Aguirre finds himself under increasing pressure following a 2-0 defeat away to Godoy Cruz.
El Tomba led on the stroke of half time after a swift counter was finished by Pol Fernández from close range but there was little reaction from San Lorenzo after the break even after Gastón Giménez was sent off on the hour mark.
Fernández sealed the win ten minutes from time from the penalty spot leaving San Lorenzo with plenty of questions to ask themselves.
In La Plata, Estudiantes put an end to their run of five matches without a win to edge past Patronato.
It was far from convincing by Nelson Vivas’ side but Leandro Desábato’s first half header proved enough to claim a long overdue three points.
