Paris Saint-Germain’s January signing of Julian Draxler looked to spell trouble for Ángel Di María, who had been enduring a poor season up until that point. However, El Fideo has produced some of his best football in recent weeks and on Sunday added another goal and an assist to help PSG to a 4-0 win over Guingamp.
After a goalless first half Edinson Cavani spotted the run of Di María and the 29-year-old clipped the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper to break the deadlock.
Minutes later Cavani doubled the lead before Di María repaid the favour and split the Guingamp defence with a lofted pass over the top for the Uruguayan to score the third.
PSG kept pressure on Monaco at the top with the win but for Di María it is now eight goals and five assists in fifteen matches in 2017.
Bordeaux climbed to fifth after a 3-0 win over Metz and 21-year-old midfielder Valentin Vada was the man of the match with two goals and an assist.
Vada fed Brazilian Malcom to rifle in the opener before the youngster slotted in a second half penalty and rolled another past the Metz goalkeeper two minutes later.
It has been an outstanding campaign for Vada in Ligue 1 this season and with six goals and two assists, the 21-year-old will be attracting interest.
