Claudio Ubeda has named his final 21-player squad for next month’s under-20 World Cup and among the surprises are call-ups for European-based pair Ezequiel Ponce and Santiago Colombatto.
Argentina had named a list of 23 last week that would supposedly train at Ezeiza this week before the final squad was named and while Ponce and Colombatto didn’t feature, both are now set to feature in South Korea.
All that remains is the discussions over whether certain clubs will allow their players to participate, with Independiente still wanting to talk regarding the possibility of Ezequiel Barco remaining until at least after the clásico and Racing reporting an injury to Lautaro Martínez.
Argentina are due to fly out to Vietnam on Saturday May 6th for two warm-up matches before the World Cup kicks off against England on the 20th.
Claudio Ubeda will hope to have all his squad available so that plans can be finalised before the tournament starts.
