For the first time in Ariel Holan’s time in charge of Independiente his side were unable to celebrate victory on the road as Aldosivi put in a determined, defensive display to deny an in-form Rojo.
Independiente’s pace has made them a dangerous, counter-attacking outfit but it was clear from kickoff in Mar del Plata that Aldosivi would rarely be venturing out of their own half in any numbers.
Chances were few and far between at either end and aside from Emanuel Gigliotti drawing a fine save Matías Vega and Nery Domínguez flashing a shot inches wide of the post, there was little to show for El Rojo’s 72% possession.
Holan is yet to lose as manager of Independiente but will be disappointed to only have gained a point on Friday evening. His side are up to fourth for the time being while Aldosivi have probably done enough to avoid relegation at least for this season.
