Deportivo Morón clinch title with victory over Platense to seal promotion to Nacional B after 17 years (VIDEO)

After knocking Primera club Patronato out of the Copa Argentina last week, Deportivo Morón’s celebrations continued on Tuesday evening with a victory over Platense that not only saw El Gallo lift the Metropolitana title but sealed a return to the B Nacional after 17 years.

The last promotion to the second tier was in 1990 after Morón’s only other previous Primera B Metropolitana title but since relegation at the end of 1999/00 season, the club have been waiting for this moment.

Rodrigo Diaz’s stunning free kick gave the home side an early lead and when Javier Rossi volleyed in from close range to double the lead, the celebrations began.

Platense pulled a goal back late on but it wasn’t enough to spoil the party and El Gallo del Oeste were champions.
