Argentina are already training in Singapore following Friday’s victory over Brazil and Jorge Sampaoli looks set to name a 2-3-4-1 for Tuesday’s friendly with Emanuel Mammana and Federico Fazio the only two defenders in the starting eleven.
Lionel Messi, Nicolás Otamendi and Gonzalo Higuaín have all left the group for personal reasons after playing against Brazil and José Luis Gómez has now been ruled out through injury so Sampaoli will go with an attacking, alternative eleven for the match against Singapore.
Only Lucas Biglia, Paulo Dybala and Ángel Di María will continue as starters with Joaquín Correa getting another opportunity in attack after Mauro Icardi has been unable to shake off the thigh injury that ruled him out on Friday.
Argentina probable XI: Nahuel Guzmán; Emanuel Mammana, Federico Fazio; Eduardo Salvio, Lucas Biglia, Marcos Acuña; Papu Gómez, Manuel Lanzini, Paulo Dybala, Ángel Di María; Joaquin Correa
Mammana and Fazio will form a two-man defence with wingers Eduardo Salvio and Marcos Acuña covering the wide areas either side of Lucas Biglia, after the midfielder impressed against Brazil.
Singapore, ranked 157th in the FIFA rankings, should not provide much opposition for Argentina and so such an unorthodox formation is unlikely to be stretched.
Nahuel Guzmán will replace Sergio Romero in goal and in attack, alongside Dybala, Di María and Correa, Alejandro Papu Gómez and Manuel Lanzini will earn their first starts for La Albiceleste at senior level.
