The relegation battle claimed its first victims on Friday evening as Sarmiento and Atlético de Rafaela slipped out of the top flight without even playing after victories for Temperley and Huracán.
Temperley travelled to San Juan looking for only a third away win of the season and while there was little between the two sides, Mauro Guevgeozián’s seventh goal in twelve games gave El Gasolero victory over San Martín.
The three points lifted Temperley out of the relegation zone and a little while later Huracán claimed a 1-0 win over Unión meaning the Sarmiento and Atlético de Rafaela were finally too far from safety to avoid the drop.
Alejandro Romero Gamarra’s drilled effort from the edge of the box after half an hour proved enough to give El Globo victory and moved Juan Manuel Azconzábal’s side a little closer to safety.
