Éver Banega was one of the bargains of last summer as the back-to-back Europa League winner switched Sevilla for Inter Milan on a free transfer. However, one year on and the Argentina international is returning to Andalusia in a deal reportedly worth €9 million.
Both clubs have confirmed the move, providing Banega passes a medical and signs the three-year contract that has been provisionally agreed.
Despite making 20 Serie A appearances for Inter last season. scoring six and assisting a further six, it was an underwhelming campaign for Banega and the Nerazzurri.

Inter finished seventh and have since brought in new manager Luciano Spalletti so a return to the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán would appear a good solution for all parties.
Since breaking into the Boca Juniors side at eighteen, Banega’s quality has been clear but ill discipline and a series of off-field misdemeanours prevented the midfielder from reaching his true potential.
However, under Unai Emery at Sevilla, Banega truly found his place and was a key player in the club’s consecutive Europa League triumphs.
The ties to Emery did see rumours of a possible reunion at Paris Saint-Germain surface last week but Banega’s agent Marcelo Simonian has now scotched such talk: “It is not complete because some small details still need taking care of. However, we are all in agreement. We are going back to Seville. For how many years? We have a three-year contract.”
Sevilla finished fourth under current Argentina manager Jorge Sampaoli last season and so Banega returns not only to the club he knows so well but to Champions League football. The 29-year-old has established himself firmly in the national side over the past two years and rediscovering his form in Spain, will certainly not harm his reputation.
