Héctor Villalba chalked up his seventh and eighth goals of the season as Atlanta United secured a 2-0 win over Columbus Crew at the MAPFRE Stadium. The 22-year-old’s electrifying pace remains a real weapon for Gerardo Martino’s side and it was a fairly aimless long ball upfield that released the former San Lorenzo youngster to poke in the opener. Tito volleyed in his and Atlanta’s second after the break to secure all the points and remain in the playoff places.
Maxi Urruti struck his tenth of the campaign as FC Dallas beat Toronto FC to stay second in the Western Conference. The former Newell’s Old Boys forward had already laid one on for Roland Lamah and with the score at 2-1 with a little over ten minutes remaining, Urruti smashed in a decisive third.
Diego Valeri also made it ten for the season with a sensational long range strike but the 31-year-old’s missed penalty meant Portland Timbers could only draw with Sporting Kansas City.
