The headline at the Parc des Princes was undoubtedly the €222 million player sitting in the stands but while Paris Saint-Germain will need to wait a little longer for Neymar’s debut, Javier Pastore returned to the starting eleven and scored his first goal in Ligue 1 since March 2016 in a routine opening day win over Amiens.
Despite dominating the match, PSG were made to wait until just before half time when last season’s leading scorer Edinson Cavani made the breakthrough.
The newly promoted club still had the chance of an upset when trailing by just one but with ten minutes remaining, Marco Verratti released Cavani and the Uruguayan squared the ball for Pastore to roll in a simple second.
Pastore met with Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli this week and if the 28-year-old can remain fit, the elegant midfielder can play an important role for La Albiceleste.

While in the Chinese Super League, Ezequiel Lavezzi’s impressive form continued with the former PSG forward proving instrumental in Hebei China Fortune’s 3-0 win over Yanbian.
Lavezzi won the penalty that allowed Aloísio to open the scoring from the penalty spot before slotting in the second, Pocho’s tenth goal of the season.
There was still time for Hebei to add a third when Lavezzi fed Aloísio and the Brazilian cut inside to fire the ball into the bottom corner.
