Portuguese champions Benfica maintained their perfect start to the season with a third straight win thanks to an emphatic 5-0 thrashing of Belenenses. Brazilian forward Jonas had already put the Águias ahead when Argentina international Eduardo Salvio struck an unstoppable second. A partially cleared corner fell to the former Lanús winger and was swiftly curled into the top corner.
Jonas completed a hat-trick and one for Haris Seferović completed the rout giving Benfica top spot in the Primeira Liga at this early stage.
