Last season may have ended in relegation for Sarmiento but the Nacional B side are still going in this year’s Copa Argentina after a 3-1 win over Primera C club Sacachispas in Sarandí.
Despite defeat Los Villeros from Villa Soldati have made the most of their cup run and after making headlines in the last round, posing for the team photo dressed as a variety of superheroes, the minnows opted for a gladiatorial theme this time.

The costumes didn’t help much on the pitch though as recent Sarmiento signing Iván Etevenaux smashed El Verde ahead on the half hour mark.
Etevenaux added his second with a superbly struck free kick after half time and although a blooper from goalkeeper Fernando Pellegrino allowed Marcos Doracio to pull a goal back late on, Ignacio Cacheiro wrapped up the win for Sarmiento in stoppage time.
Independiente or Atlético Tucumán await in the last 16 for Sarmiento.
