As the elegant Argentina under-20 is poised to make his Spurs debut, I spoke with the coaches closest to him to discuss the critical switch to central defence, his remarkable rise through the ranks and what the future holds.

Hermes Desio, the AFA’s youth co-ordinator and formally of Estudiantes; Martín Gaimaro, the coach who spotted the potential and oversaw the move from attacking midfield to central defence and Gustavo Salinas, another of Foyth’s Estudiantes coaches all provide insight into one of Argentina’s most promising defenders.
