Tevez returns but Boca Juniors suffer penalty defeat to Aldosivi (VIDEO)

Boca Juniors saw more desire from Carlos Tevez in 72 minutes than Shanghai Shenhua saw in a year but it wasn’t enough to prevent Aldosivi coming from two-down to force penalties and celebrate a friendly victory from the spot.

It hasn’t been a good couple of days for Boca, after missing out on the capture of Ricardo Centurión and the scandal that surrounds Colombian duo Edwin Cardona and Wilmar Barrios, that prevented them from featuring in Mar del Plata, Los Xeneizes slipped to defeat against Nacional B opposition.

Despite Cardona, Barrios and Frank Fabra not being available, Guillermo Barros Schelotto was still able to name a formidable starting eleven and handed starts to Carlos Tevez and Ramón Wanchope Abila in attack.

Understandably it was the Superliga leaders who started on the frontfoot and after 25 minutes led when a swift counter was finished off by the lightning quick Cristian Pavón.

Wanchope thought he had doubled the lead only for a correctly flagged offside call to deny and shortly after Aldosivi were almost level when Emmanuel Mas was required to clear off his own goal-line.

Boca continued to cut through Aldosivi with relative ease but when Tevez looked to mark his return with a goal after being slipped through on goal the post denied him.

Guillermo Barros Schelotto was dealt some futher bad news when Pablo Pérez was forced off through injury before half time but there was no let-up from his team after the break and Abila got his goal, rifling in a loose ball from close range.

Another careless offside position cost Wanchope another and from here Aldosivi staged their comeback. A stunning Arnaldo González free kick from 35 yards pulled a goal back and minutes later a second spectacular strike, this time by Cristian Chávez equalised.

Unable to find a winner the match went to penalties and after Pavón saw Boca’s first effort saved by Sebastián Moyano, the shootout was eventually decided when Walter Bou blazed over.

Results at this stage matter very little but Boca face River Plate on Sunday and even during preseason there is a degree of pressure surrounding the superclásico.
