Giovani Lo Celso has had to bide his time since moving to Paris Saint-Germain but is now proving his worth in Unai Emery’s side and on Saturday afternoon registered his first Ligue 1 goal with an exquisite lob in a victory over Lille.
The 21-year-old is becoming something of a regular in the PSG side and impressing in his new deeper role. One of the leading ball winners in the league and still the elegant playmaker that he was as a youngster at Rosario Central, Lo Celso is now pushing for a place in Jorge Sampaoli’s midfield.
After scoring his first goal for the club in the Coupe de la Ligue only a week ago, Lo Celso added his maiden Ligue 1 strike on Saturday and it was worth the wait.
PSG were already two goals ahead thanks to Yuri Berchiche and Neymar but with three minutes remaining, Lo Celso found the ball on the edge of the box and produced an audacious chip over the goalkeeper.
The win takes PSG eleven points clear at the top of Ligue 1 and with Argentina set to announce a squad for the friendlies in March don’t be surprised if Sampaoli takes a close look at Lo Celso.
