Argentinos Abroad: Perotti sends Roma third, Di María scores again for PSG, Calleri on target & Messi still impresses (VIDEO)

When Jorge Sampaoli names his Argentina squad for the friendlies in March, Diego Perotti will be hoping to force his way into the plans and helped his cause with a goal in Roma’s 2-0 win over Udinese.

“We’re getting back on track to where we were in the first half of the season,” Diego Perotti said after being slipped in and finishing well to cap off a victory in stoppage time.

In-form Cengiz Under opened the scoring 20 minutes from time and Perotti wrapped things up to take Roma into third , two points ahead of Inter Milan.

As an option on the left side, Perotti’s performances at Roma will not have gone unnoticed and the 29-year-old could be included in Argentina’s squad.

Ángel Di María’s fine form in 2018 continued on Saturday with another goal in Paris Saint-Germain’s 5-2 win over Strasbourg.

The Argentinian was left out of the starting eleven for the Champions League defeat against Real Madrid but marked his seventh league goal of the season midway through the first half as PSG responded emphatically to Strasbourg’s early opener.

Julian Draxler and Neymar had already cancelled out the visitor’s goal and directly from the resulting kick-off, Di María stole the ball and slotted in number three.

The 5-2 scoreline, which also saw Javier Pastore chalk up an assist, saw PSG go 12 points clear and now Unai Emery has decisions to make ahead of the second leg against Madrid.

In LaLiga, Jonathan Calleri scored his sixth goal of the season but couldn’t prevent Las Palmas slipping to defeat against Sevilla and remaining in the relegation zone.

Sevilla had already taken a two-goal lead with Franco Vázquez making the second for Pablo Sarabia when Calleri pulled a goal back from the penalty spot.

And finally, Lionel Messi didn’t add to his 20 LaLiga goals for the season but did produce one of the passes of the year to create the opener for Luis Suárez. Eibar gave Barcelona plenty to think about but couldn’t prevent Argentina’s captain finding pockets of space and delivering the defence-splitting pass that allowed Suárez to round the goalkeeper and break the deadlock.

Only the post denied Messi a goal of his own during the first half but after weathering Eibar’s pressure, Jordi Alba made sure of the points when he slotted in a rebound from a saved Messi effort.

The result maintains Barcelona’s lead at the top and extended the unbeaten run to a club-record 31 games.
