With just one Superliga win since October, Lanús have been the top flight’s most out of form side for months so when Alan Ruiz put Colón ahead after 18 minutes in Santa Fe, El Granate appeared to be heading for another defeat. However, a missed penalty, a red card and a goalkeeping error presented Lanús with an opportunity that even they couldn’t turn down.
Colón started the better and were ahead just after quarter of an hour when early substitute Marcelo Herrera was adjudged to have blocked off Cristian Bernardi allowing Alan Ruiz to cooly tuck away the opener from the penalty spot.
A minute later and referee Silvio Trucco was pointing to the spot again when Ruiz was tugged back. This time, Javier Correa stepped up but saw his effort saved by Esteban Andrada with some help from the woodwork.
Lanús having dodged one bullet were given a further advantage when Matías Fritzler was foolishly sent off before the break and this gave the visitors the impetus.
Goalkeeper Alexander Domínguez fumbling a cross gifted Lautaro Acosta an equaliser and shortly after Bruno Vides volleyed Lanús ahead.
Rolando García Guerreño talked his way into a red card a minute later to even up the teams but Lanús managed to hold on for a valuable victory.
Colón 1 – 2 Lanús
After two well earned draws against River Plate and Racing Club, the relegation of Chacarita Juniors crept a little closer with defeat away to Rosario Central.
For the second week running defender Alfonso Parot was on the scoresheet as his powerful header gave Central an early lead but it lasted just minutes when Elías Alderete benefitted from his sloppy defending to equalise.
Central struck the woodwork twice and Chacarita wasted a couple of clear chances themselves as a draw began to look increasingly likely.
However, youngster Agustín Mazeiro came off the bench and nine minutes from time headed Central back in front. And the 20-year-old wasn’t done there, nicking the ball to smash it past Pedro Fernández off the underside of the bar.
Central are just outside the Copa Sudamericana qualification spots while a swift return to the Nacional B looms for Chacarita.
Rosario Central 3 – 1 Chacarita Juniors
