Argentinos Juniors too much for Central Córdoba & Rosario Central take point from Unión (VIDEO)

It wasn’t as straight forward as perhaps the scoreline suggests but Argentinos Juniors continued their fine start to the Superliga season with a 3-1 win over Central Córdoba in La Paternal.

During a goalless first half, the visitors had caused Diego Dabove’s side problems and Gervasio Núñez escaping in behind wasted the clearest chance to break the deadlock.

Far from their best but still unbeaten this season, Argentinos upped their game after the break and almost immediately led, Carlos Quintana heading in at a corner.

That goal sparked the game to life, five minutes the lead was doubled, Damián Batallini’s cross from the right eventually falling to Gabriel Hauche and the 32-year-old slotting in before an immediate reply saw Núñez pull one back.

With the game now far more open both sides missed chances and after Jonathan Herrera headed straight at Argentinos Juniors’ goalkeeper Lucas Chaves it was left to Santiago Silva to seal the points five minutes from time.

With the win unbeaten Argentinos go top of the table until at least Saturday evening while Central Córdoba remain rooted to the foot of the promedio table.

Rosario Central are also worried about relegation as they remain in the drop zone after a goalless draw with Unión.

Unión without a win in five had the better of the chances and Jeremías Ledesma was certainly the busier of the two goalkeepers but Central saw the more possession as the two sides cancelled each other out.

Unión  0 – 0  Rosario Central
