After a run of one win in eight, Argentinos Juniors ensured that their Superliga season ended on a high and in an ideal position to push for Copa Libertadores qualification during the Copa after coming from behind to defeat Rosario Central.
A wretched run of form since the restart in 2020 swiftly ended Los Bichos dreams of challenging for the Superliga title and when an unmarked Marco Ruben tapped Central in front inside quarter of an hour.

With the game in the balance and both sides creating chances, Fausto Vera proved to be the match winner. The impressive 19-year-old’s volley took a deflection through a crowded penalty box to beat Jeremías Ledesma and Vera’s first top flight goal sealed the points.

Defeat leaves Aldosivi hovering just above the relegation zone anxiously watching the results of Colón, Patronato and Gimnasia this weekend and while Arsenal may have expected to be in the same position after promotion, Sergio Rondina’s side instead go into the Copa hoping to book a return to continental competition.
